Sharing High and Low Temperatures, Outside Temp, and Type of Pellets used for comparisons

No you shouldn't have to settle on 380. I'm in Michigan and it hits 600 with the same weather conditions. One thing you might do is revisit sections 24-27 in the assembly instructions. Maybe something isn't quite seated or turned around. I know when I assembled it, on section 25 the first part pictured - slotted throat plate, I set it in place but almost didn't push down because it looked like it was seated. But I did push down and it snaps in place. You probably have it correct but worth a double check before going through a return.
Yeah, that's probably a good idea. Won't hurt to check. I think I'm also going to try running it without the heat shields so I can watch the pellets drop to make sure the auger isn't binding up, I have good airflow from the fan, and the flame looks good.
 
EX4 arrived today. Going through seasoning procedure per the manual. Pit reached 600 degrees in 15 minutes. It's about 45 degrees here in Austin with light rain off and on. I used the Weber Grillmaster blend pellets for the initial startup.

Anybody ever used Cookinpellets.com pellets? I like that they are 100% flavored wood with no oak filler. I know oak is good for high btu but wondered if people have noticed a more pronounced smoke flavor? Noticed not being able to reach over 500*?

I have used them in one of my other pellet smokers. I liked them a lot. They smelled great while burning and the flavor they put into the food was good.
 
Hi I thought that we could have a thread where we can share our high and low temps and what the outside temps were at the time as well. I know that we are all hoping to get to 600 and even below 200 for smoke. Let's see. Of course I will need to have my Weber SmokeFire before I can do this! Can you relate?

In addition: I wonder if we should also share the Brand and flavor of the pellets as well? We may be able to find that some pellets get hotter than others and maybe some pellets actually smoke better and at lower temps... So add that too if you feel led to do so!

I pre-ordered my EX6 from Lowe’s back in October. As a Vet I got 10% off Of the $1199 price. It arrived on Monday, Feb 10.
It came with a complimentary 20lb bag of Weber Grillmaster Blend pellets, as a thank you from Lowe’s.

It took me about 1.5 hours to assemble going by the guide. I needed help, as recommended, lifting it onto it’s side and then back onto it’s legs once attached. It is heavy, probably 150lbs.

First burn-in at 600 degrees went great. It got up to 600 in about 20 minutes. Let it cook for45 minutes, lid closed the entire time. At the end I opened and there was a nice fire blazing from the pot. Then I did the Shutdown cycle. This took about 15 mins before it could safely be turned off.
First cook was just hamburgers and some veggies. Went A little too long on veggies, dried out. Burgers turned out great.I did not use the probe, just watched like a regular grill cook.

Good to hear this. Do you notice a lot of air leakage? Or is most of it coming out the back vents? Trying to decide how much I want to try fixing mine vs maybe returning it. I emailed Weber yesterday, but haven't heard back yet. One of the main reasons I pulled the trigger on a pellet grill was the ability to get to 600. I don't feel like I should have to settle for 380 after spending $1300.

FYI, after seeing the lid closed for the first time and seeing the gaps, I decided to add felt strip (LavaLock from Amazon) all the way around the lid to better seal it. I purchased this for my Weber Kettle and it sealed the smoke in much, much better, had enough left over to fit my new EX6 lid.
My first burn-in the smoke was coming out slightly from the lid top lip, but most was out of the vents, as hoped.
 
Got the grill assembled and burned in. Ambient temperature as 65 degrees. Grill got up to 600 in right at 18 minutes. Letting it cool down and then I’m going to put on some beef plate ribs.

Quick update on my situation. Weber customer service has been amazing, truly exceptional. I've talked to two people and both of them committed to doing anything necessary to resolve the situation. After sending pictures of the burn pot, auger, hopper, etc., they noticed I wasn't using Weber pellets (I ran out and was using cookinpellets.com). They didn't think it was the problem, but they shipped me out 2 free bags of pellets. Also, they are sending a technician to my house to replace some stuff and make sure it is working properly. 👍👍

Great to hear. FYI, I burned through the Weber Pellets that shipped with the grill first and then picked up som Pit Master pellets(only $15 for 40 pounds) at the local Lowe's for my 600* test yesterday morning when it was 17* F outside and they worked great getting my EX6 up to 600* in a little over 20 minutes.
 
I saw those pit master pellets, was wondering if they would work ok or not
