Looks good. I keep telling myself I don‘t need that side shelf but you are tempting me.

It’s not as heavy duty as the front shelf but I love having additional landing/ staging space right on the SF.

Guys, I just had to modify my Weber front shelves. The gritty movement of the shelves on the horizontal bars that hold the shelf pin was driving me nuts. Yea, it is a short trip. $1.45 at Lowe's. You get four washers that fit over the black grommet that holds the shelves. You get enough for both ends of the shelves.

Please bear with me as I do not have these shelves but are seriously considering them. This modification simply eliminates side-to-side movement of the shelves? Thanks.

You're right, the side table doesn't feel as sturdy as the front shelf yet it is rated at a 40# capacity while the front shelf is only rated to 20#. I just finished installing both on my EX4 after I found them on Amazon this week for $55.99 a piece. Will probably install the nylon washers as noted above but doubtful that I test the side table anywhere close to its rated capacity. Anybody else have any concerns about the 40# rating?

I’ve used my shelves quite a bit now and basically keep them in the usable position. Once the side shelf is opened and seated, it’s plenty sturdy enough for holding or landing food or whatever. One note is you have to watch what you put on the front shelf when you open or close the lid as the handle can interfere with the landing area. Overall, I’m quite happy with them. I would have lowered the front shelf to allow more room for the lid operation, but it’s still useful. Also holds the upper shelf on some hooks.

Enjoy!

Yet to have an issue with my ex4 front shelf other that the handle interference issue...but then I only use it for loading and unloading food and it easily handled a 21# brisket.

How does the side shelf work with the handle? I move mine in and out of a protective position as it shares a patio with a basketball goal, and I use the handle to move it. I have the side shelf already, but haven't installed it. I'm thinking I'll get the front shelf, as it would make it easier to get things off and on the grill.

I have both. You can grab the opposite side of the cooker or really anything to move it. There are no rules. Lots of grills have no handle at all. The side shelf installs in the place of the side handle and then you reinstall the handle on the shelf. You can use the handle as long as the shelf is up and snapped in place. I say get them both. If you want to do yourself a favor, get some 4” or 5” wheels. Makes moving a breeze.
