Yeah, I’m a new fish here. I’ve had a Weber Genesis grill for a long time, never smoked a day my life... until two weeks ago. I have read a lot about smokers and based on Weber’s reputation and my experience with them I went ahead and bought an EX4. I’ll admit, I almost bought one of those fancy expensive ones (I’m not saying which) but I figured I need to learn what I’m doing first and I’ll use the EX4 to pop my cherry in the smoking world.

So far, my experience with the new smoker is positive. I can’t complain about any of the problems that I’ve read about on here. Honestly. I’m one of those guys that reads the manual and rereads it again and again. I know that nothing in life is perfect and I do expect to experience some issues, but I don’t give up when I do hit a problem. There’s always a fix to problems, IMO, and I don’t mind being a test dummy. That being said, I’d like to thank all of you that have posted the problems to give new a heads up. That’s what forums are for, sharing experiences and learning from them.
Thanks!

This was my first use of the EX4.

Welcome and you jumped right into the pool with that first cook! I agree, these kind of forums are so great for learning tips and pitfalls to avoid. Now the important question, how did it all taste?

The taste was exquisite, we’ve never had that smoky flavor from the Genesis. My wife and I are picky with the type of meat we buy. Grass fed until the end only. All that meat was from butcher box (second time using them) and we have a local market that has really good cuts of meat also. I used the hickory pellets on that cook.

Great to hear! I’m doing some turkey breasts today for lunches. Then going to do my first attempt at reverse seared KC strips tonight. Will probably do the sear on my Genesis.
