Auger Fire

Tonight I had the second auger fire as I was shutting down. Anyone else had this? Help!!

Given how far back you have the diffuser sitting, I'm not surprised.

Not much to explain..
You don't have the diffuser sitting correctly. It is too far back which is why the auger is catching on fire.

It also looks like the burn pot cover isn't on. That or there is a really big gap at the front.
Either way, you need to do something about that also.

yikes. Agree with Goneincognito, it does look like the heat shield is too far back and something definitely looks off with the fire pot cover.

I have no problems with auger fires, I was reading some threads and was just commenting,most of the problems I have had seems to be in the power source which Weber just replaced…we’ll see how it goes

Then it would appear that Weber don't need to do anything to make it sit accurately.

I have a gen 1 which I intentionally don’t clean or maintain and have no issues. I had issues related to the software as was widely reported, and I replaced the auger assembly which they sent me. The issue I have with internet claims and diagnostics is you really have no idea what the circumstances are on the ground. You only know what someone tells you. Usually that info is flawed or downright inaccurate.

I absolutely love the Smokefire and I m not shy about letting people know. It’s truly a unique piece of cooking equipment.

When working properly I enjoy the smoke fire as well. You seem to know more then the techs I talk to at Weber. When I’m grilling at 600 and basically stops burning and the display continues to read 600 even though an alternative source says it’s 300 they ask me what pellets I’m using…really ? So I say I think it’s the thermocouple (which was already replaced) or the mother board. They sent me a new mother board so we’ll see what happens. All of a sudden I’m getting excessive smoke coming from hopper which I’ve never seen before..
