How accurate is the in built temperature probe on the ex6? Mine is reading about 25c out on a 3 hour cook. The 2 probes you can see have been ok, so just wondering if it’s time to change my probe in the ex6.

This is todays cook and the reading are way out. Probe 2 is on the bottom grate and probe 3 is on the top. This was a 1 hour cook as you can see from the timer

Are you suggesting the temp was way off and you knew it and somehow managed to intentionally ignore it and ruined a cook? Really? You should also be able to visually see what is going on during a cook. You can also check temps of the protein with an instant read which is always the proper protocol.

I’m not suggesting you shouldn’t pursue the temp differential issue, but to ruin a meal when fully knowledgeable of the parameters involved strikes me as intentional and trollish.

Sorry if I’ve misinterpreted the issue but that’s how it strikes me. Good luck!

Totally agree with you it was my own fault, was planning 90 mins cook for when people was due to come to eat. I checked after 45 mins and bottom of the shells were over cooked. Only reason I was not visual checking or probing was the day before when I opened the lid and checked my temp wore go even higher so I thought better to keep it shut and try to keep it consistent?

I’d contact Weber and hopefully they send you a new probe. Have you tried cleaning the tip of the probe?

I had a similar problem with the built in temperature probe, 25-30 degrees higher then the reading on the screen compared to two external probes. Called Weber, put on hold for 45 mins with no reply, called back to ask them for an answer, was told they would call back within 24 hrs....no call as of yet, 24 days ago.
Maybe time to move on....

Well as has been discussed before. I’ve read that if you put a probe in your kitchen oven it even fluctuates around some….door opens for food entry or removal. So my 2 cents….I gently use like a Clorox or plain wet wipe to clean probe in the SmokeFire, every so often. I also understand that the temp probe is not directly accurate, so I just keep and eye on my food….a side note…one side of my ex6 cooks hotter than the other.

I’ve contacted Weber on Thursday just waiting for a reply now, also yes I’ve cleaned the temperature probe and that’s not done anything.

Have you had a reply jimmy?

Just had mine there sending me a replacement temperature probe.

Customer service I’ve noticed not as responsive as it used to be and I sent multiple emails and opened several tickets to finally get someone to reach back out. Always get what I need it just seems to take longer now than before and that’s a bit frustrating. Happy Grilling!

Finally got though to Weber, talked with a representative (Danial), great guy with outstanding customer service. Without hesitation he shipped me a new sensor probe. Should be here in a day or two. Hopefully this will correct my issues, I'll post one-way or the other.

Test run for an hour, new thermocouple seems to have fixed my issues. Previously if it was set at 225 I would get 265 to 275.

That’s awesome, this thread got me to order one and I really hope I get the same results.
