Grill
Smokefire EX4
Hi all. Just joined the forum. I purchased and assembled my grill yesterday and noticed a chip on the right hand side where the lid
comes down and meets the barrell on the right hand side. Should I be concerned and contact Weber. Any thoughts are appreciated.

I would be contacting Weber ASAP to see what they can do.
I would recommend calling rather than emailing to get a quicker response.

The first scratch is always hard to look at. Think this is purely cosmetic as the sides of the grill are quite thick steel. Don't think this will ever rust out. Maybe weber will give you some kind of peace offering but I would not be concerned about running the grill. Enjoy and have fun. More scratches will come with use.

Agreed.. Wont cause issues as far as use goes but shouldn't come out of the box scratched (assuming you didn't do it while assembling).

They replaced the lid on mine as the porcelain was chipped out of the box. That part is a much harder one to replace however. If it was me I would probably just bring it back and get a replacement. You’re going to have to look at that ship every single time you use it unless you want to try to patch it up with some matching paint

Is it steel or cast aluminum? I forgot to look at mine and check.

I’d contact Weber and see what they offer. They replaced a part on mine where the coating was cracked but it was an easy to remove and replace piece, so not sure what they’d do with it on that section.

Thx for all the replies. Quick update. I talked to Weber customer service and they are sending me a new cookbox assembly. The rep took one look at the picture and said he was sending the new part. No questions and no hesitation. I was impressed.

Excellent, Weber customer service is some of the best there is.

If only CS on Australia was this good. Need to wait forever for them to decide on a resolution to anything.

Hi, email them from thier website as a warrant issue. Upload pictures! They will reply, maybe not today but they will help. I've had mine since 2/2020 and they are helpful.

When I assembled mine, the lower part cracked the porcelain when tightening the screws. I sent pictures and they sent me a new piece. I'm sure they would do the same for you.

Keep it as a back-up and run what you brung. A black Sharpie pen will make that look like it never happened
