Ex4

STUCK in RECOVERY mode, pickup in1,4,2020. No SUPORT FROM WEBER
? No support? I don’t understand. I bought mine second hand. From offer up. Around 1/10/2020 It only had the initial burn in done. It was sparkling new. Weber still sent me all kinds of parts for free, cups, bags of pellets. The newer auger/motor, glow plugs. They should still be supporting it.

They send me parts to upgrade, DON'T GET ME WRONG I PAID 1100.00FOR EX4 AND WAITED FROM10,15,22 TO 10,27,2022 TO GET TEXT MESSAGES HOW TO GET OUT OF RECOVERY mode and still don't work, SPEND HOURS LIKE 5 IN TWO DAYS CALLED ASKED FOR A TECH NO TECH ON SITE WELL WAS STILL WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO CALL ME, NO RESPONSE, NOT OFFER UP

Read all the problems people are having, THEY PAID RETAIL PRICES LIKE ME ,READ AND UNDER STAND I NEED A CONTROLLER UNIT MY GRILL EXPIRES ON 1/4/23

I UNDERSTAND YOUR FRUSTRATION ROBERT BUT YOU NEED TO CALM DOWN AND NOT TYPE A WALL OF TEXT.
IT MAKES IT VERY HARD TO UNDERSTAND YOUR ISSUE AND EVEN HARDER TO TRY AND HELP.
IT COULD BE A LANGUAGE BARRIER OR IT COULD BE THAT YOU ARE JUST THAT FIRED UP YOU ARE JUST GOING A MILLION MINES A MINUTE ON THE KEYBOARD AND NOT TAKING THE TIME TO LOOK AT WHAT YOU ARE TYPING AND IF IT MAKES SENSE.

95% of the problems with the Smokefire have been resolved over a year , maybe two years ago. I think 95% is probably a low number too. Every sophisticated pellet grill has had some issues. Sometimes it connectivity, sometimes there are glitches in their software. If you search the internet you’ll find them with virtually every brand. It happens. While it does suck personally when it happens to you, it’s not really and indicator that the product itself is “sucky”

Also as stated on another thread, the internet is full of trolls making up stories to diminish a competing brand. Not saying that’s you guys, but I’m always suspicious when the story doesn’t match current trends I can see for myself.

Good luck, the cooker is really great and while some think it’s expensive, the truth is it outperforms cooker 2-3 times it’s cost. It’s a huge bargain.

True!

JPS it would appear that your opinion is overly rosy, but given what you've written here I'll give context. I did a LOT of research before buying a smoker, and the Smokefire was the hands down favourite by a mile. I spent 2 years in Texas and have friends that smoke in TN and upstate New York, and all said the Smokefire was a level up on everyone else. Given that I have 15+ years of great experience with the Weber brand, these recommendations married up nicely with my customer experience.

So two things can be true at the same time. Will my smoker be awesome when it finally works? Very very high odds. Did Weber sell me a dud that doesn't work, for a known problem that has NOT been resolved, and have such awful customer service that I'm ranting on a forum board? That much I can confirm to be true. Weber has a Smokefire customer service team, and I was told to wait 3 days for responses from them because they're so busy. Meaning Weber still has a problem and has not properly resourced it - to the peril of their brand. 'There was a glitch and they fixed it overnight' would be a very different message than my current 'it's day 9 and my Smokefire is still a brick'. I can only say the latter, and it's exactly the same problem as OP listed.

Weber may have sold me a great smoker, but at the moment I have no way of knowing. So as per my upthread comment, Weber really does need to step up.

Sounds like you didn’t follow your extensive research that tells you to make sure you download the app and get all the updates. 😁

Also sounds like Weber needs to smoke their firmware developers, because they can't seem to find solutions to problems fixed in 2008. The updates bricked up the grill... so you aren't making the point you think you're making.

No. No I’m not. You are making the point for me.

Good luck. 👍🏻

Does extensive research before making a purchase so is no doubt aware there are issues...
Gets the grill anyway...
Has an issue (regardless of the cause)...
Breaks out the torch and pitchfork...

You guys need to chill a little. Some of us got great smokers and others have issues.
I feel like being mechanically inclined and a bit of a tech geek has given me a huge advantage over many SmokeFire owners, I’m always looking to help others get on the right path.

That being said we have had our share of nutters on here so it’s understandable to question intentions of some of the posters.

Im certain it’s the manner in which he “asked” for help. I’m more than willing to help non-ah0!es.
I totally understand peoples frustration with this product and many others. Truth is they are finicky and all brands have an assortment of issues that the lay person might think are unacceptable. Some people are just way too abrasive and I’ll act in kind.
