I have never used GrillGrates, but they seem quite popular. Has anyone replaced their SF grates with these? It seems like these would change the way the flavorizer bars were meant to work. Perhaps the valleys in these grates do the same thing. Are they really "better" than the stock grates?

I would say "Yes" on a gasser. On the SF, I am not sure. I have tried a couple of times with mixed results. I have taken the GG from my gasser and used them sideways on the SF. Just makes using the spatula hard. I just need a different approach before I decide.

I use them on my SF (on top of the regular grates) but there is a bit of a learning curve if coming from a gasser. It seems like they are most effective when placed in the 'hot spot' of the grill. Otherwise it takes a bit longer for them to heat up to get a really good sear.

I used to use them on my older Summit gas grill, but after getting the Summit 620 a few years ago I found that center sear section, coupled with the insert grates with the recoverable circle for my wok, frying pan, etc. worked just fine when reverse sear coking steaks. They now sit unused in my cabinet with lots of “stuff” I acquired over the years and now only use occasionally

Well if yer not using them...ahem....I would! My address is..... .. .... .....

I love them on my Genesis gasser, but they increase temp so haven’t used them on the SmokeFire since I’m usually doing lower temp cooks. Would probably be great for high temp searing.

This why I said occasionally!!!. Actually I do need it when we have a lot of guests and I am doing more steaks that the center sear burner can handle. But not this year due to...

Actually, you said “they now sit unused.” So was like wow, u would use em for sure. But I was just kidding...😬 and yes I did see the occasionally. 😮

EX4 owner for about six weeks now. I have not used them but I am very happy with the donated Weber cast-iron grates that used to be on my W Genesis LX 1000. They fit perfectly & when they are allowed to also reach 600° (I go about 15 mins once grill says at temp,) they work GRATE!
