Grill
Weber SmokeFire EX4, Weber Genesis Silver C, Weber Smokey Mountain 14" & 18", Weber Performer, Weber Q 220
Well, after sitting on my butt end and reading until my eyeballs were sore I finally spent a few minutes on Weber's site ordering my new grill.

Never had a pellet grill before though I have many friends that own them (and a few that even enjoy them). I've always stocked bags of Kingsford in my garage to feed my Performer kettle and two WSM's (18" and 14"). I have no complaints about charcoal and wood fired cooking, this will be a new path to wander down.

I do use propane here home and at camp with a very old Weber Genesis Silver C that I bought long ago and am very happy with. I'm also happy that I can still get the occasional part now and then to keep it like new. Add to that a Q220 and the one renegade, my beloved Camp Chef FTG600 flat top. Lots of great cooking and too much eating. ;-)

Many thanks to the regulars and to the new folks here in the group. You've all made it much easier to get good information and ideas. I don't have a ship date yet or any idea on when it's going to arrive here but I just couldn't pass up the discount that this sale brings.

Now it's time for a beer and I'll let you know when it arrives.

Excellent stuff, you've made a good choice!

Download the BILT app for your iOS/Android device and select the Weber Smokefire EX4. It will take you through all of the assembly steps and is clearer than the paper instructions IMO, as you can zoom in and swivel the screen etc...

Quick screenshot for you.

Welcome!

Thanks to all of you... I take way too many food pictures so I'll be sure to share.

I'm particularly interested in seeing how it will work with m age-old pizza pans. I could never replace them and they are envied by many of my friends for how well they do their job.

Let me leave you with my recent cook from my Performer. I love the bone on pork loin that appears at Costco during the holiday season. This was over charcoal (hot/cold side) done at camp before we closed up. Seasoned simply with salt, pepper, garlic and a bit of crushed red...

I know what’s your saying I felt I just needed to take a chance as I read everything I possibly could and when I found this forum or gave me hope. I am suppose to have mine by next Thursday. Welcome!

Thanks for the welcome. I was mostly concerned with Weber mixing themselves into the electronic controls and software business. Their method of delivering fuel to the Smokefire is probably the most complex in the industry, and I'm sure they're still learning.

I've always loved all of their other products from current to years ago, and I love low and slow cooking. This forum is a great collection of folks that definitely love this blend of smoker and grilling beast. Their "2nd Gen" release coupled with a generous discount got me off my butt. Should be here on or around the end of next week.

I pulled the schematics and the build instructions from Weber's website (yes, I also will acquire the app) and wouldn't it be great if they would allow interested folks to have a look at their controller logic?

Anyway, thanks for the hello and good luck with your own EX6. 😀

I'm sure that Weber guards it's proprietary goods like Ft Knox. But don't I know there'd be some serious hotrodding of some Smokefires..........

I thought it was a partnership with fireboard. Could be wrong though.

Never seen that, but that doesn't mean it's not true. I know Yoder is using Fireboards as an option on their cookers

I’m sure they do, too. But a simpler Boolean diagram of the startup, shutdown and temp control features would help in troubleshooting and understanding some of the error messages. Not for everyone but I know there are more interested in this than just me. :)

It is also possible I was told some BS too.

Yes, it would but a simple air probe stuck in the SF controller tells you a lot about how the SF PID is working.
