Guys
Doing a clean out after and I have always noticed that pellets are catching fire and or collecting in the spots in the red. Should I be alarmed or is this normal? Using weber pellets

I would say normal, the fan is really strong and blows ash and partial pellets around. I have not had any problems, mine has done this from day one.

I’ve done at least several hundred cooks of all types and temps. Some using foil pans and some using nothing. I’ve never had an issue with fires or anything like that. Not to say you cannot have an issue because every single grill has that potential regardless of their design. I have argued for a long while that allowing the combustible fats to deposit below the rim of the fire pot is very smart. Just like the great deep fat fries with the burn tube elevated half way up in the oil vat, the heat rises and the temps at the bottom of the cooker are DRAMATICALLY lower than above the fire pot. You are far more like.y to have a small grease fire from residue on the flavorizor bars than anywhere else. It is directly in the hot zone and animal fat combust above 375. Animal fat also adheres to metal surfaces to some extent.

Enjoy the great cooker!

Not sure how the pellets managed to get outside the auger tube, but I personally wouldn’t worry too much about it.

You will have to show me a video of how the pellets get there for me to understand. You show me pellets there but I don’t see how they got there.

It’s like when you have sex with your wife and her hair ends up in places that don’t make sense. It just happens.

So waiting on weber reply. They sent me a new auger assembly and 2 bags of weber pellets. Uninstaller the old one which was easy.. I installed the new one and fired it up. Right to 600 for 15 min the 225 for half hour and then 400 for 3 hours.. you can look under the old auger assembly to see where the fire is burning rhe chute

Same issue

My Gen 2 has done this from day one....never been a problem doesn't cause any issues and have never had anything close to a back burn happen. Every other brand of pellet grill I've had or used has blown burned or parts of pellets around the bottom of the cooker and in the firepot area. and I have had back burns into the auger and hopper on all of them but never with the Smokefire. I wouldn't worry about it anymore if I was you. Enjoy your Smokefire.

Well the follow up from Weber was we can get your money back and pick up the grill since it's so new or just clean it. It's considered normal operation
