Just picked up a quarter cow today. With how crazy the world has been this past year and the rising price of beef I though it was time to give it a try. Only had time for some burgers but wow did they taste good. Super fresh, no smell, a real steaklike flavor. Sorry no pics of the cooked burgers but here is what we got. 135 lbs of steaks, roasts, ribs and ground beef @ $5.31 lb.

Been kicking around this idea for awhile now. Been thinking about hunting this next year. Probably cheaper just to buy a quarter beef. Let me know how well the rest of your cooks with this quarter turns out. Well done.

Not sure about the hunting. Processing costs and time is great. Buying a quarter is a better approach if you can get fresh meat.

Will do. Tomorrow will be a porterhouse - can't go wrong with that. Something I might try in the future is sous vide one of my chuck roasts and reverse sear it. Just saw a video on it and man that looked good. He says it's better than ribeye.

Agree. Spoke to a couple of farms over the past year and processing times around here is the biggest factor. Seems like there are so few who can do it and they have to be certified processors. Besides, where are you going to hunt for cow? :geek:
