Shut down mode suppose to look like this?

Been having issues ever since I bought this grill. Replaced everything in it and have finally removed the finger guard. When I went to shut down mode there was a small fire in the box. Is this normal? Only asking because this grill has been a mystery from day one

I've never watched the shut down mode in action, but I did note that sometimes the temp goes up before it goes down and there are no pellets left in the burn pot when I clean the grill. I always imagined that something like the pic you posted was happening.
