Smoke Fire grill Cover

Hello,

I’m new to the Pellet Grill scene, and also to the low and slow Bbq scene. This is my first time buying a Weber. I purchased the Gen 2 Ex 4 on October 20th 2021, and I’m going to try a brisket this weekend. I’ve spent many hours in YouTube….and heard many different opinions, but it’s time to go for it and see how my first meteorite turns out!

Here’s my concern, and thanks in advance for the help:

I live in Florida (lots of rain), and I have the Weber Smoke Fire Grill Cover.

I’ve noticed that after it rains, there is condensation on the grill when the cover is removed. I’m concerned that since there are computer components in this grill, the moisture is going to cause an issue for me.

The Weber grill cover (made for the smokefire ex4) seems very thin and I’m looking for a better option to keep the moisture away.

Any suggestions re a better way to cover this grill or a way to modify Weber’s cover so it does a better job?

I’ve checked Amazon for other covers, but I think I need one specially tailored to fit the smoke fire ex4 due to the unique design….maybe I’m wrong?

If my memory serves me right there are some guys on here that don’t cover there’s at all. I have an EX6 1st gen with the upgraded auger/motor. I’m in Phoenix, Az. Doesn’t rain here a lot, but when it does it comes down. I always have my cover on when it raining, but I also use it to block the harsh sun too. I e never had condensation build up. That being said, I’ve seen some stiffer waterproof, covers, on Amazon. Might take some measurements and try to find one that fits. You could use a tarp?

Is it condensation or a leaking cover?
My first cover leaked along the seams and Weber replaced it.
Since then there has not been a drop of moisture under the cover.

For your brisket, I would not turn your grill over 250. I usually do 250 until the wrap, then I usually turn it up to 275-300 until 200. I always leave it it the foil, wrapped in towels in an ice chest for at least an hour. I usually do 4+ hours in the ice chest. The last brisket I did I left it at 225 the whole time.

I did consider that the cover might be damaged. The box was pretty beat up when it arrived. I think I’m going to return it. Thanks for the suggestion

Has anybody found a good waterproof cover from a third party? I bought a Kumple brand cover designed for the EX6, its good quality and fits well but I don't like the way this one, like the Weber cover, has a recessed area in front of the control panel that lays flat on the stainless shelf. This flat area encourages water pooling, wet leaves to build up, and the extra seams in this area offer more potential for leaks. I would prefer a Weber or other heavy-duty cover that just drapes over the entire thing without being custom fitted around the control panel. As much as I would like to keep my EX6 indoors over the winter, its going to have to stay on the back porch, at least this season.

Following this as well. I took to inverting a small plastic planting pot under the cover on the area in front of the control panel to prop up the material and allow the cover to shed water. As my Weber cover is now a year old and outside 24/7 in the Texas sun it is starting to age and leak around the seams.

I used to cover mine religiously but have quit that and rarely if ever cover it. Just wipe off the rain, snow, or ice and go. Definitely not for everyone but I’ve had no issues with water actually disrupting my cooks or fuel supply. The cover does a pretty good job of keeping most of the weather out but not
