Spirit EX: Connect to wi-fi

Trying to connect to our wi-fi router using Weber Connect app. Go into Settings / Wi-Fi which returns the "Select Network" screen. It then goes into a constant buffering mode (rotating circle) as it searches for networks. Doesn't find anything, so I enter the network name and password (I know what they are), and it continues with the constant rotating circle never finding anything. Is there something special I need to do to have the app find my router? Thanks!
