Anyone replace the fan with this fan?

Saw this on the Reddit SmokeFire forum. So much quieter now. All I can hear is the pellets drop.
Also seems more stable temps and operation. In use for several weeks now and have done Beef Ribs, Pork Butt and will now do a toast test to see if there is any change in flow or heat areas.

have not yet. been busy. using it so far I don't think it will change the hot zones so I haven't been in a hurry to do it.

Hello All,
I have also done this same mod. Extremely happy with the results. It is whisper quiet even when standing right beside it. Performance is the same and have taken it up to 520 with flames coming out of both sides of the fire pot which leads me to believe there should be better heat distribution. Cooked some kebobs and used both sides of the grill getting pretty much the same grill marks.

Cheers

Thanks for the contribution.
I forgot to mention the plastic screen guard over the OEM fan was cracked and crumbling so I didn't put it back on with the new fan. Don't know if that affects the distribution but thought it worth mentioning.

I like the concept here, but I have to think this voids any warranty - correct? I've bought the parts but I'm going to sit tight until my warranty runs out in a year or so.

Just done the same mod and definitely much quieter that the standard fan. Does appear to take slightly longer to heat so am going to take off the plastic screen guard to see if that makes a difference.

I am contemplating this mod as well but I'm not in any particular hurry. Question: the plastic screen guard you refer to; is it part of the old assembly (I've not examined the stock install) or are you referring to the serrated flow guides on the new fan?

Since we're talking mods..... I also put the Weber cast iron grates I had on my Genesis into the EX4.
Then with the help of Rec-Teq Oak pellets I reverse seared a Picanha.
The EX4 went from 250 F to 600 F in no time and the sear was perfect.

hello everyone, after looking at your experience, I also decided to change the fan, bought NF-F12 INDUSTRIALPPC-24V-3000 SP IP67 PWM on Aliexpress, connected it as indicated here yellow/ blue, black / black, red/ yellow, blue/ green. when the grill was turned on, the display turned off and the grill did not react in any way. it turned out that the fuse on the motherboard had burned out. I replaced the fuse. Now the question is, what could be wrong? on redit, I saw another map to connect to.

Sorry to see you are having trouble.
I have not had a single problem (knocks wood) with how I wired it up.
Sorry but I don't know what to advise you on as far as trouble shooting.
