Weber EX4 Fan Mod

I thought I'd bump this since there hasn't been any further discussion on the topic. For those who have made the modification, has it been successful?

Thanks Johnnybbq. My warranty expires in 2 months, I have the new fan and I'll give it a go then. My plan is to wire it such that I could return it to factory spec if need be.

I rebuild the connector myself.
Its called a Molex connector and you can buy the connectors easily online.
If you want to remove the pins from the existing connector, there are some nice tips on youtube,
I myself used a needle from the mrs

Sorry I haven't responded in a while. I have been using my SnS Kettle a lot lately modifying it to do direct heat, Hill Country Style BBQ.
Anyway, my EX4 is till working great with no problems. Have been doing a lot of stuffed zucchini and chicken wings and even seared some steaks. Still rolling along.

Glad to have found this thread. I bought that fan after purchasing an Ex4 a few years ago and had plans on figuring out the wires but never got around to replacing it.

Hi everyone

I figured out what my motherboard broke when connecting Noctua, I connected a fan that with SP marking according to the Q100 scheme.

These fans have different connection.

So you are good now?
Glad you got it figured out.

Yes, Q100 works perfectly.

Thenk you!

By the way, when I changed the fan, I found that the old one choked, but it worked
WOW! That's crazy.
One another note i recently prepped my EX4 for the winter and replaced the burn pot and the glow plug assembly.
While giving it a good cleaning I dropped the ash pan housing and replaced the original felt gaskets with Lava Lock Hi-Temp gasket material. I had lost one of the felt strips and smoke was coming from under the EX4. Now it's all nice and tight and smoke only comes out the vents.
Other than crumbling burn pots and melting glow plug assemblies this grill has been great.
I am starting to think, going forward, I will sear on my SNS Kettle and keep the pellet grill for lower temps and see how the burn pot and glow plug last.

A year ago I replaced the glow plug holder with the epx/elx version, it is installed bolt on, the cable from the motherboard was included.

Tell me more about that. I don't know what that is. Is it more sturdy?
OH I see the stealth version right? I didn't know it had a different glow plug assembly.

Thank you for the part numbers. I searched and could not find them. I will try those when these eventually wear out. (y)
