I sure hope Weber plans on offering a Griddle insert for the new Smokefire Grill lineup. I also wonder if Part #7658 (Griddle for Spirit II 200/300 and Spirit 200/300 series gas grills) will fit? The would add a ton of versatility to this pellet grill!

Anyone know if this will work yet?
Although I do not have the other Weber grills I am hearing about the grills being interchangeable with some of the other models... So I am guessing that griddle could possibly fit, but it is only a guess. I like that they seem to be keeping the fact that most of their users already have other models! Nice way to keep customer loyalty.

Check this post (link). In it a reference is made to 2 youtube movies made at an introduction event of the EX4 and EX6 in a Weber Store in the Netherlands. If I'm not mistaken one of the makers states that the Griddle Built for Summit 400/600 series (link) is compatible.

Hope this helps ;)

I’d like a griddle. I was looking at a reversible cast iron one like this Cast iron griddle could use on my SmokeFire and Genesis.

Did you try the Grill Grates in the SmokeFire?
Do they work as a griddle?
Yes I did until my SmokeFire melted down at the ash box. YES! You can def. flip them over and make a really good Griddle.. They do have SEAMS though so it is not a perfect griddle solution because of this but other than that, they are really really really good.

I was just looking at getting a set for my older Genesis. So you would recommend the GrillGrates? I liked the idea of having a couple on the flat side along with the rest on the raised side. If they help reduce flair ups I have on my gasser that would be great.

Sorry Abmet. Just saw this. I absolutely love my grill grates. I only have one set that works for almost all my cookers in one way or the other. I was thinking of getting two more sets. I put them up there with a Weber Triangle grill brush, a thermopen, a charcoal chimney and maybe Kosher salt. They can be that essential.

YES. They will definitely make your flare ups go away pretty well. They get so hot and the way the protect a lot of the meat from an open flame helps alot. I will not grill a steak on my Pitboss with out it and I use them on my Summit gasser when I really want a black and blue steak.

You can do them either way but you cannot connect ones upside down with ones right side up just so you know.

No problem I know you were dealing with fires and grill going away parties. I appreciate the info, as essential as thermapen and kosher salt is high praise! I think I’ll be picking some up this weekend now. Good to know that can’t connect them together if on different sides. Do you use one side most?

Originally I used them all the time with the grate side up. I did some reading on even searing and saw some info on the grillgrates flipped over and gave it a shot. I now stay flipped more than grated. I am a rare as it gets person (on ANYTHING but bacon) though and the flipped grates can give me a quick, consistent even sear across most of the surface before I am pulling it off the grill without burning. If I want some different texture though I still prefer the grate side and then I just dial in the temperature of how deep and dark I want those grill marks!
