Curious what other people are using based on best flavor/smoke/cost

I’ve used a Traeger for about a year and ran nothing but Traeger pellets through it. With my new Smokefire I’m looking to try out some different brands for flavor and price.

I tried the pit boss pellets for my initial burn in, but really didn’t like the quality. Lots of “dust” and very small pieces throughout the bag. Anyone else have a similar experience? Not sure if it was causing a problem with my grill heating up correctly, but when I cleaned it all out (vacuumed out the auger) and switched to the Weber pellets I had no problems reaching temps.

I'm using the pit boss hickory at the moment and I will be looking for something else aswell. Before this I used the green mountain grill texas (Also hickory) and liked those better. I'm just keeping experimenting on a couple different kinds and see which ones I like the most.

I've had good luck with B&B pellets. I've also heard nothing but good things about Lumber Jack pellets.

Thank you Primeone, I’ve used B&B lump in my kettle and it performed really well. Interesting, it looks like the only place I can buy lumberjack pellets is at Dicks sporting goods.
