It appears that rather than stainless steel the Searwood's grates are coated steel. Is that correct?

I like the devices designed to clean a hot grill with cold water. I also like the style and price of this Oxo Coiled Stainless Steel Grill Brush over say, the Grill Art & Scrub Daddy versions. However, I wonder if the coiled stainless steel Oxo would damage the Searwood grate's coating?

So far, I love the Searwood. But I really hate the lack of front wheels and stainless grates.

As heavy as the Searwood is and because it generally needs to be moved, to be used, front wheels are almost a must. But yet, Weber engineers, or was it Weber's bean-counters, decided to forego quality and functionality😕, to save a few bucks, by NOT providing front (turning) wheels and stainless steel grates.

If you search under casters, you'll find a great solution for adding wheels to the stationary legs. I followed the directions as suggested. It's a game changer.

Also, you can purchase stainless steel grates for your Seared 600. They are $130. I'm going to try them. The factory grates are hard to clean.

Thanks for the links. I had seen the DIY caster addition post. But, the poster mentioned the main deterrent for me: "wrestling with the heft of the Searwood".

We bought the Searwood assembled, primarily because of my spine issues. Thus, re the DIY casters: the Searwood is a heavy piece of kit and the thought of manhandling it to install caster, let alone drilling holes (where none were intended) is a bit more than what I want to tackle.

However, I have found that using plastic sliders like these under the front legs helps its manuverability. Besides, they provide a quick inexpensive work-around.

Also, thanks for the link to the stainless grates. Indeed those are an option, as I've also read suggested that the porcelain coated cast iron grates maybe, for their ability to potentially sear better. However, the coating subject on either steel or iron, equals longer term maintainance issues.

That's one thing they got right with the SmokeFire - four wheels - although the stock casters were a joke... that was the first upgrade I did.
