Smokefire EX4
I have my eye on a floor unit EX4 for a sweet deal. Seems to be the 1st gen though. Should I hesitate or jump in? Will Weber still honor the upgrades they had been offering? Anything else I should be aware of before making a decision?
Thanks for having me here!

Welcome!
I look at things like this as "how much is my time worth?"
If its a decent deal and you don't mind doing the extra work involved I say go for it.
Call Weber and they will sort you out with the parts needed to make it a "Gen2".

Since it's a display unit, it might be worth taking it all apart and reassembling it following the BLIT app to make sure its together properly as there can be issues if its not (you can install the new parts at the same time).

You may be tempted to not replace the parts and use as is but you will thank yourself later if you just replace them now.

I bought my EX4 as a floor model at a great price. Like said above take the time and go over it with a fine tooth comb. I was able to register it online and Weber accepted it. Also called about a week later and they ran the serial number and shipped out upgraded parts without question. Good luck on your decision.

Welcome to the forums! Personally I haven't had any issues that haven't been my own fault with a Gen1 EX6 but I only use it for slow and low cooks. That being said, I have all the parts to upgrade it and will be doing so once my grill is accessible again. Darn snow.

Pull the trigger. It’s a great piece of equipment at a fair price.

Then, enjoy!
