I had the issue while doing an overnight test run prior to Christmas. It shut off around 2 hours into the burn. Cleaned it checked the glow plug and auger. Tried another test run and it had flame failure just over 2 hours. Cleaned it all over again, switched to a “new” bag of Weber pellets. Again after 2 hours, it had flame failure. Tried to relight and this time it wasn’t starting; so, I did a shut down.
During the shutdown I kept hearing pellets dropping. I removed the grates, and Flavorizer bars and observed the auger was still feeding pellets. If I were to speculate on what is happening, I would say either the auger motor or controller is reversing the auger while it’s running.
It was Christmas Eve and I really needed a functioning reliable smoker for an overnight brisket smoke. Being desperate, and realizing the SmokeFire was no longer dependable, I needed a new smoker. I found a SearWood 600 at an ACE Hardware about 40 minutes away. I bought the floor model which was only one left in stock. I did my overnight smoke and it turned out to be the best brisket I have ever done. IMO: The SearWood is the smoker should have made when the SmokeFire was put to market. My SmokerFire was never this good.
