Does a flameout scap the glowplug? I have been using my Smokefire for several months and clean out the ash and such after reach use. Had a flameout last night and not sure why.

Nah. I’m still in my original and I’ve had it since day one.

Did the pellets bridge? Make sure you mix them every couple hours.

I had mixed the pellets before firing it up. It started up with no problem and the pellets were moving through. I may do a burn off again to see what it does. That shouldn’t hurt, should it?

Have you removed the wire guard from above the auger opening? If not do so by removing a single screw and bending the wire then replacing the screw. Do not remove multiple screws because they also hold on the auger. Be careful not to drop the screws in the auger. I recommend placing a rag in the opening just in case one drops.

I wasn’t having issues with pellets dropping to the auger. The auger was full and pellets on the slide ignited when it flamed up. I cleaned everything and tried to do a burn out about an hour ago. It would not ignite, so I guess the glow plug is damaged

You are not making any sense. Flame up or flame out?

Have you or have you not removed the wire guard?

Did you check to make sure the glow plug is installed properly.

Have you started it and checked if the glow plug heats up?

I’m always a bit skeptical of these types of posts. Ask for help, won’t answer questions directly so you can get help. .??

Glow plugs should last a long time. Heat won’t bother them. What bothers them is not having them installed and seated properly.

The wire guard and not having the glow plug snapped in and seated properly are the main two issues that cause people problems and they are easily rectified. If you have a glow plug fail, getting a new one and doing the same will result in failure again.

Good luck!

I flame out will not damage the glow plug.
The flame out was caused by bridging (do you still have the finger guard in) or poor quality pellets.

I have been using this grill for 5 months with no problems. The little computer screen said “flame out. I clean out the grill every time before using it again. I vacuum out the ash and clean any grease droppings. I never cook without a drip pan, so there is very little grease in the bottom. The glowplug is properly installed.

I have had no problems with pellets bridging over and last night the pellets were moving through the auger with no problem

Enjoy!

I’ve never had that sorry I can’t be more help.

I would reseat the glow plug to ensure the connection is good (using a hose clamp on the connection can help).
If the glow plug doesn't heat up after this then replace it.

If it does heat up and you are confident that the pellets are not bridging and you have a flame out then the pellets are bad.
That or your burn pot has rusted out.

What pellets are you using?
