This might interest those who currently monitor the pit temps independently of the built in devices or those who plan to. It learns the average of any fluctuations and tells you the mean temperature. It can be switched to read either way, traditional or average temps. Interesting anyway.

That's a nice unit! I have an older thermoworks (single probe) and a thermoworks Smoke as well as an older Thermapen. I recently realized my old Thermapen is way out of whack and needs calibrated (or cremated?). Anyway, the more probes you have to cross-check with, the better. ANY of them could be wrong. I can do wings and ribs and such just by instinct, but pork shoulder, brisket, etc... I need accurate readings (pit and meat). Anyway, that Square Dot looks really nice!

Be interesting to see how the mean temperature compares to the SmokeFire.

That’s kinda what I was thinking. Again, not my sorta thing but I know lots who really get into the details waaay more than I do. Just caught my attention as something different from other stuff on the market. I assume it’s in response to lots of people monitoring these pellet grills regardless of the brand.

Waiting for the next thermoworks sale and I will grab one of those. I just gotta stop ordering full price from them, everyone I do they have a sale a week later.
It’s a great concept and I bet they add it to several of their units, like the smoke which is a freaking great thermometer.

I’ll bet there’s more than a few folks around here that share that experience. It’s uncanny! 🤣

Buy it about a week after I do. It'll be redesigned....

I have one and it's ok for rough monitoring but not nearly as precise as I would think someone would want that's taking the time to independently monitor the pit temp. Some of the other wired brands are far more accurate. That said, if your just looking to get a rough confirmation it'd be fine.
