Had a few startup issues which Weber resolved and finally got to the first seasoning step.

It was going fine, wiped grapeseed oil on with paper towel, turned heat on high, smoking after 10 mins then prepared to turn off and cool down after 20 more minutes. After noticing a "speck" of PT on the griddle, and having only a microfiber towel (think auto detailing) in my hand I quickly tried to flick the small speck off the griddle. Not a good move. (See attached pic)

The towel immediately melted. I scraped off as much as I could but then didn't know what the right plan of action would be. I called Weber but they weren't much help.

After letting it sit overnight I brought it up to low temp and squirted some water in the area hoping it would steam off while I used the scraper. No effect at all. SO I decided to use the griddle cleaning stone. Aside from leaving many white flecks all over it didn't do anything. Didn't try any oil so I don't know if that might be enough with some heat to burn it off, or soften it enough to scrape off.

Hoping an experienced user here will have a good suggestion. I am prepared to spend hours, or days, steaming scraping, etc. to get it back to bare metal. Don't know how aggresive I can get without damaging surface.

TIA.

I would hit it with oil and see if you can get it to burn off that way. Maybe a wool scrubber would work?

It's mentioned in this video here:
