I have a Weber kettle including a semicircular hot plate. I wanted to move the plate safely if it was hot or cold. I found a Jumbuck cast iron lid lifter at Bunnings hardware (~$7). I bent the handle ½ way up by about 70° and putting the hook through the hot plate slot was able to lift it easily. Initially the hook also had trouble engaging because the plate was sitting on top of the grill. By using 5 nuts and bolts and 10 washers I was able to raise the plate off the grill giving enough clearance to lift the plate without any problems, allowing me to have the plate fully over the coals or ½ and 1/2
