My smokefire controller updated yesterday to version 2783. I also noticed the app updated to version 1.01. I can't find any info on the controller update and I'm wondering what the changes will be. Has anyone else been promoted for this update during a cook or have info?

Mine updated today about 15 minutes into a run. Start, shutdown, restart. And I checked the Weber site before I started. As usual, they are not up to date. I did notice that the controller temp reading stays on five degree intervals and steps.

I think they said it’s an update to the app.

Yep I saw that on the weber website as well. However did not see an info on the controller update. The app told me it was updating my grill and after a shutdown and reboot all the lights flashed and now says controller software version 2783. Weber site has 2491 as current. Curious as to what the changes will be?

That's what I mean - their site is not up to date. And the update starts in the middle of a run?

I got the Android app update early in the weekend, and when I turned my EX4 on yesterday, it started an update (like the rest of you are seeing). Only thing was all that I had was was a notification that an update was occurring and might take 25 minutes. But no progress anywhere like I had when I first fired up my unit using app version 1.0. Tapping the notification just took me to the main app screen. I gave it probably a half hour and then just power cycled the grill. Thankfully it was done and it went through the probe light blink sequence for an upgrade. So if others aren't seeing a progress page, give it ample time, then power cycle and see if the update happened.

I got the notification mid-cook yesterday that an update needed to be installed. Nothing happened until I put the grill into shutdown after the cook, when I opened the app, it was updating and then I power cycled once the shutdown process had finished.

I see software release notes all the time from the developers at my company that looks like the Weber ones. I have to keep telling them that "fixed bugs" does not count as release notes...

I updated today and for the first time I noticed the controller show the temp swings when you open the lid. It may have done this before and I just didn't notice it.

I just went thru the most frustrating attempt at an update! My phone would pair with the SF then disconnect. I would reboot all and sometimes it would NOT pair and sometimes it would. Once and only once did it tell me to update the software and when I pressed "Continue" it looked like it froze. I left it for 25 minutes and it did nothing. Reboot and reboot and after an hour of fumbling around it updated to 2783! Is there a Firmware update beyond 4042? I have had issues with the Android version before and one of you fine people recommended I grab an iPhone user and try that which worked perfectly.

There's also an update to the Android app if you haven't updated your phone

I believe mine was current but I am going thru the process as we speak....
Thank you

I have never done an update that was not "hitchy" except using a friends iPhone.

I've noticed since the update the smokefire seems to get to temperature a lot faster. This may be a coincidence? Also have noticed the display shows the temperature more accurately.

My Android phone update for the SmokeFire was always sketchy until the latest version of the Weber Connect software for Android on December 18th. It updated the software two days ago using my Android phone without a hitch. Prior to that I always needed to use my iPad.
