So, out of curiosity while super smoking a tri tip roast, I measured the 4 corners with the grill at 180. I have the weber waterpan centered while smoking.
Back right was 165F and the other corners were 155F.

I used an oven thermometer, and glad the temp spread was that tight on the smaller model. I'd read about much wider spreads.

As a follow up to my low and slow temp observations, I find that a higher temp for grilling at 350F, the right hotter side reading on the top rack was 365F and the left side was 315F or the 50 degree spread others have experienced and why some rotation is needed to cook evenly. I'll need to test the bottom rack left, center, and right at 250F and 350F. Ideally to find a center rack set point that would yield a 235F for smoking ribs&butts, and a 350F for grilling chicken.
