Given that the price is in Pounds, it will be a Gen2 unit (Gen1 was only released in USA) so it won't be Gen1 parts failing.

It could be something as simple as removing and cleaning the auger.
They may have been using bad pellets.
The burn pot grate may need replacing.

Those are really the only things that it could be.
If the previous owner has registered it, it will no longer have a warranty and you will be out of pocket for any parts needed.

I bought my Smokefire in March 2020 in the UK, I'm sure it would be classed as a Gen 1 as I had to replace the Augur and fit the Pellet Slide to the Hopper.

Agree with the things you've said about problems, wouldn't surprise me if it just needs a good clean as well as fat and ash in the bottom can cause a lot of smoke, and a firmware/software update which can help with it not getting up to temp if it is on an older version of them still

I'd say looking at the lid though, something looks to have happened there unless it's just rain and my eyes are playing me up?

Even if it needs a £100 or so spent on it on parts to get it going and the lid is ok, you've got a proper bargain there

Yeh for free as well .which is great i brought some weber pellets and i am going home later to give it a good clean and vacuum out any dust etc ..
How would get the latest software on it ? Would i need to connect to the weber app etc

Download the Weber App from the Apple or Google Play store depending on your phone. Register the Smokefire in the app. Switch Smokefire on, place phone next to the controller and let it update, before starting a cook.

Weber pellets work really well, other pellets I've found that do are Lumberjack available at https://shop.americanbbq.co.uk/bbq-pellets-26-c.asp?_=&f-_brand=f-Lumber+Jack and Cookinpellets from Amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/s?k=cookinpellets&crid=SX3UY2N3FAKQ&sprefix=cookinpellets,aps,60&ref=nb_sb_noss_1

If you take to it, Riverside are doing a good offer on the front shelf and side table as well as the Waterpan kit for them at the moment (not sure how long offer lasts though) or if they're just trying to shift and discontinue stock. I've bought all 3, couldn't resist at those prices

Also if you haven't got one with it? invest in a Weber Qbox Scraper, great for removing any hard baked or soft grease on the bottom of the smokefire

Anyway enjoy your Smokefire

Have you checked to see if the fingerguard is still installed at the bottom of the hooper, where the pellets drop down to the augur?

If it is still there remove it and reattach the screws only, pellets can get jammed up in there and cause irregular pellet feed to the burn pot, and extra smoke

Otherwise on start up when you see the white smoke appearing, open the lid and allow it all to escape and close the lid after and continue with the start up. I have had clouds of White smoke on start up and opening the lid for 30-45 seconds usually clears it up and gets it working as it should

Ok.i will check the finger gaurd, i seen a lot of people remove these .
Also the lady seems to think it gets to temp around 225c and then it loses twmp very fast .like i said I got to 110c and it seemed fine .
Tomorrow i will have aplay with it ..let youball no
