EX6
Hey everyone! I recently purchased a SmokeFire ex6 and want to buy the Gourmet BBQ System for it. My question is that if this is for the Spirit 300 and ex4, what stainless steel grate do I need to additionally buy to replace all of the lower stock cooking surface? I have called Weber customer service and they could not really say.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
John

I believe the grids are in thirds for a EX6. So, 2 pieces for a EX4 and three for the EX6. There is also a new system out that looks even better to me. It's called Weber crafted. Looks to me like it would work similarly by adding another piece of grid to the kit. Not sure though. I'm a fan of the stuff I've bought.

Good luck!

Thanks JpsBBQ so if I was to buy the GBS grate, what model # of additional Weber stainless steel grate would i need replace the rest of the lower surface? My problem is that I have no idea what size additional grate I need

I believe it’s 7012 for SS and 7011 for enamel coated cast iron. The grates are interchangeable with the spirit 300 series. Those grates should fill the gap.

So would I need to order only one of the 7012 to fill in the leftover gap after installing the GBS? I am so sorry for all of the questions!

I believe that is the case for an EX6. You should be able to use a section of your current grates also, but I assume if you’re upgrading you’d prefer to go all the way. The heavy stainless or the porcelain cast iron are definitely upgrades.

Might be worth speaking to Weber first. Here in the Uk and The US website they're releasing The Weber Care kit (certainly for the EX4) not sure about the EX6.

It looks like a direct replacement for the GBS system and sits on the right hand side of the smokefire and all the accessories fit into the frame kit. Not sure whether you need to buy new grates or they fit onto the right hand side of the current ones.

Details a bit sketchy at the moment, but Weber should be able to tell you exactly what you need and if it works with the EX6 as well.

I think it's a better idea certainly for the EX4, I have the GBS system and I use it regularly on my EX4 with different accessories I own. But everything sits in the middle of the grill so you lose so much space either side and with this new system, you'll still have the left side to cook other things whilst using the accessories

Just noticed @jnordstrum thread on the EPX6 has some photos posted and the grill system certainly looks like it has the new Care Kit system supplied with it.

Yeah, I mentioned the same sentiments above. I assume it is standard overseas just like the GBS was for the first series of grills. Might be a little while before they are available or it might be real soon. 🤷‍♂️

I am wondering if I wanted to just replace all of the porcelain coated lower grates with Weber Stainless Steel and not use the GBS, would i just order 3 of the Part # 7012's fill the entire lower void?

#7639 is a two pack of the SS and #7638 is the two pack of cast iron. you could also buy a two pack of one type and get the third one of a dissimilar material. Such as 2 cast and 1 SS or 2 SS and 1 cast. Also could get the GBS in SS and add the single cast for the third piece. Really there's lots of options.

I have 2 cast iron and one stainless on the bottom, it is a sweet set up for grilling. I also have the GBS If I ever need it, but the SmokeFire ash situation keeps me from using that as much as I hoped.

The gap you see on the cast iron is no longer there after the spacers Weber sent out.
