why would my 6 complete shutdown, then spark up again and go full noise reading it is in shutdown mode?
i turned it off and unplugged it. it went like cocaine bear for 20 minutes.

that is some trippy shite.

bugger it. i am gunna break my dry july and give the 6 a big hug. and give weber AU a call tomorrow.

oh ..... and .....

i hope you USA people had safe and amazing 4th.

Shut down mode takes like 15 minutes or so and it burns through latent pellets in the pot and chute. It does ramp up the fan on multiple occasions. Also reverses the auger during the process I believe, although I’ve never bothered to watch it. Not sure, but I’d suspect you did not allow it to shut down completely or possibly you lost power briefly during the process. When shutdown is completed, it sends a prompt telling you it is done and you can power off. If you didn’t get a prompt, I suspect it wasn’t done. 🤷🏼‍♂️

nah.
it totally shut down. and, at the end of it the message was reading that that shutdown was complete and it was "SAFE TO LEAVE THE BBQ PLUGGED IN AND TURNED ON. it then sparked up again and went like crazy. reading that it was in shut down mode again.

the fire was like a blacksmith's burn pit.

the initial shut down took 15 minutes. it went as all previous shutdowns have done. but with that message at the end, it usually reads that is safe to turn BBQ off. and i do. but, this time instead of being shutdown it restarted and went full noise claiming to be in shut down mode again after it totally completed a shutdown.

lucky i was there. it just kept feeding the pellets and the fan was running like full speed. i watched and waited about 10 minutes and decided that this is not right and turned the 6 off and unplugged it. i will give it a run again tomorrow. but i am not looking forward to it going through the shut down mode because i turned it off before it caused some major damage.

i will spark it up tomorrow. i know it will go into shutdown mode on start up because i killed it before it killed me. i am hoping that it was jus a one off glitch and it does it's thing as it should. but, sadly i feel it has shat itself in the tech side of things. and, yes i have done the latest software update.

never had this problem before in the 15 months of ownership. and i don't have the time, patience or skills to do the fix up.

i have already replaced the burn pot, pellet feeder, and deflector due to metal fatigue, as a lot of other owners have.

i might see if they will refund my purchase. because this thing is not the safe, quality unit i thought is was on purchase. and go back to charcoal.

i really wanted this to convince me that pellet grills are the way to go. but no, it is just a money grab from an institution that jumped on the band waggon too late, filled with the FOMO mind set.

anyhow .......... i will fire it up and see what fun it offers up.

later people.

Too bad. The Smokefire is not a money grab at all. It’s flat out awesome and far less than other pellet smokers it runs circles around. That said, all pellet grills have issues from time to time as they are electronic cookers that operate in an adverse environment. Just do a google search you’ll see every brand out there with some issues. If you want rock solid I suggest a 5-10k stick burner with 1/4 steel and a crap ton of wood splits. Then you can spend 4-20hrs tending a fire every 1/2 hour. But hey, it has no moving parts or thinner steel to fail. Of course you can but 5-10 Smokefire cookers for the same price and you don’t generally have to split wood, dry it, and feed it. I’ve replaced the thin steel that holds up the flavorizor bars and a single Glow plug after more than 3 years of very very heavy use. At some point I see the bottom of the fire pot maybe wearing out but that’s how it goes. I have to buy new tires every once in a while too and that’s like 1000-1400 for me.

To each their own though.
good luck.

I have a mate who lives in QLD.
I'm sure he will give you a Great Northern slab for it if you have had enough of it?

I’m pretty sure this is 💯 the result of medicinal herbs or something stronger. Operator error of some sort. The big key is, I don't believe the screen ever reads what you describe. It reads it is safe to turn the power off. It’s a coin flip this even happened or it was an induced illusion. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Ok- 'Meddle' you got my attention. Not many truly appreciate that body of work.

That's the message you always get when the grill is shutting down and after it has.
I would be more interested to see the massages you usually get when you shut it down.
