Any success with Lavalock gaskets or others?

I installed Smoker Chef brand grill gasket along the sides and top edge of the lid when my EX6 was new, IME its worth doing. If nothing else, it keeps the lid and the area on top of the pit just behind the lid (above the vents) clean of smoke residue. My hopper lid does get smoke buildup, I keep up with it using stainless steel cleaning spray to keep it looking good, and the mineral oil it contains helps the smoke residue wipe off easily.

I replaced auger and chute and still had trouble reaching temperature. Weber sent me some pellets so I used them in the cook below. I could never reach the set temperature even though the built in probe said I was. I used 2 separate ambient probes to check. The graph below shows I was always low. Then at 330F every time I opened and closed the lid to spritz, the internal probe reacted and increased the temperature.
My humble opinion is that the built in probe and control are not functioning properly.
Any thoughts?

I assume you moved the probes around in the chamber? High, low, left, right, center, front, back, etc…..?

🤷🏼‍♂️

I have an ex4 and was pleasantly surprised that I was within 5 degrees from lower to upper grate and less than 10 from left to right of the pit.
Also I installed a fireblack gasket all around the lid except corner gaps. It looks and works great.

Hmm. Not at all normal. Right to left is usually a fairly large gap. At high temps the heat rolling off the lid or near the exhaust can also be quite high. Most traditional pellet grills are quite high around the edges cuz of the deflector plate.

Enjoy. It’s a great cooker.

I put a strip along the curled edge of the top of the lid where it fits to the pit.
I saw smoke rolling out there when I first got the EX4 and after application, smoke only comes out the exhaust ports in the back.
