So this is not a review…but a notice to those that have access to Academy Sports and Outdoor stores. They have the B&B Championship Blend Pellets (cherry, oak and pecan) for $14.99 for a 40 lb bag. Cheapest I have seen it!

Nice find. If you use them, post s review, so we know how it goes. Pit Biss pellets seem the cheapest everyday pellets around here. Can find them as low as 8-9 bucks for a 20lbs bag….at Wally World

Last time I went to Academy, they had only one or two bags of pellets. I've used the championship blend pellets and they seemed to work fine. I've been using the Sam's brand for my general smoking. (I use a custom blend for beef.)

When I first fired up the EX4, all I had were the Sams's club pellets (40lbs @ $15). I ordered some Weber pellets and noticed the biggest difference was Weber's pellets were thinner and longer. It seemed like they also bridged a lot easier than the shorter and thicker Sam's pellets.

I wish Weber would publicly give blessing to some other brands as SmokeFire approved. There are no retail stores near me that carry Weber pellets so online orders are my only option. I've seen a lot of Bear Mountain pellets in the stores but I don't like the fact they aren't really saying what kind of woods and what percentage are in each bag.

I don't think we will ever see that happen.
The main reason being that Weber sell their own.
The other reason being that it too hit and miss. Some pellets work fine for some people but not others (Pit Boss is a good example of this that I have seen lately).

Lumberjack and a couple of other brands pellets come out of the same plant as Weber pellets so they will work just fine.

As for ordering pellets, you get free shipping from Weber when you get 6 or more bags.

Academy is my go-to for pellets. $14.99 for 40 pounds is the best deal around. B&B and Pit Boss both are represented there at same pricing for 40lb bags. Both work great on my EX6
