I have had my SF EX-6 for 15 months, in that time I installed the pellet slide and welded auger assembly, both are one time permanent fixes. I also replaced the controller and yesterday I got an E7 code, motor failure, needs to be replaced. Weber Customer Service has always been great about helping out and getting replacement parts sent out quickly.

My concern is what happens when the warranty period is over and the cost of the replacement parts becomes part of owning the SF ? I don't know what a controller, fan or motor assembly will cost and based on the number of owners having to replace them its a reality that they will continue to need replacement for the life of the grill.

My experience is almost identical minus the controller replacement and worry about post warranty issues. I hope they are little more lenient with out of warranty service with the SmokeFire especially for earlier adopters. I love my SmokeFire but it doesn’t feel as robust or heavy duty as my old Genesis.

I think this warranty process will go on for a while until we figure out what the real differences between the old and new units are. And I do not think everything is fixed on the older units .

Well maybe to add to this discussion. My SF EX-6 is 13 months old, 1st unit in the Netherlands (Europe). My unit was delivered with the Ramp update from factory. The rest everything (still) original. So no welded auger and no controller replacement, nock on wood, but also no issue so far and that is how it should be for all customers. I'm also curious on what the policy is especially since a lot off issues are "solved" with "upgraded" parts. e.g. welded auger.

Currently I'm confident that Weber will not drop their customers and they will continue to do there best for us. So fingers crossed.
