Weber Smokefire EX6
Hello everyone,
I'm new here, and really excited to get going w/ my EX6. I really respect Weber, and have a Genesis that has been rock solid. But I have wanted to get more into smoking - Doing it on my Genesis turned out some awesome ribs, but the baby-sitting is loooong. :)

So, after some research, and seeing that Weber made the Smokefire, and are trying to do everything right by it, I decided to pull the trigger this weekend.

Software updates were done, and on burn-in was able to easily get the 600 degrees to complete it. I still have a few mods to perform (removing finger guard, namely).

I do have a question. I did some kabobs as first cook, and definitely noticed a vast difference in temps on the Left/Right side, the Right being much hotter. I've seen in the threads that if you cheat the deflector as far to the right as you can, it helps alleviate this. As it is, you can definitely see a shot of flame out the right side, and very little to the left. Is Weber addressing this? Seems to be the only issue I can see right now.

Looking forward to grilling/smoking/baking on this thing.

Thanks!

I don’t think there is any addressing going on for the right side being hotter. I actually look at it as a bonus as it only is significant on high heat cooks. The difference at 225-275 is not significant enough to matter. There are far greater variables at play within the proteins you are cooking. I like the “two zone” effect. Welcome and enjoy.

Hello and Welcome,
I am just over a week in to my pellet journey and it sounds like our paths were similar. You'll be glad you took the plunge. You can remediate the uneven cook temps with a foil pan over that side, or better yet, use it to your advantage. I think of it as an unintentional feature... For hot and fast stuff, the difference is akin to doing 2-zone on your genesis. Again. welcome. I hope you enjoy your new cooker as much as I have.

Welcome. You are going to love your smokefire. The hot side on the right you will not become a problem for you actually it will be something you are glad have.
As it was stated by Jpsbbq when smoking at 225 to 275 it is not noticeable.

Looking forward to you sharing some of your cooks with the group.
