I’ve been eyeing the Searwood - trying to decide between the 24” vs 36”. Here’s the issue. I want a 36” griddle as well…and ideally I don’t need to buy both the Searwood AND the 36” griddle separately. My question is…is there a griddle insert that will FULLY cover the XL Searwood cooking surface? Looks like the griddle insert that Weber sells fits both the regular Searwood and the XL Searwood - meaning it must not cover the XL cooking surface fully.
I don’t really need the 36” Searwood (24” will suffice I think since I’ll probably only use it for smoking) but I’m willing to get the 36” Searwood if I can also find a 36” griddle insert. Or is my only option getting the 24” Searwood and 36” Slate griddle separately?
Related question - if this thing is actually a great grill as well (not just a smoker) maybe I should get the 36” Searwood anyway? Anyone has regrets getting the 24” Searwood instead of 36"?
For reference...I'm feeding a family of 5. And mostly will be smoking ribs, pork butts, occasional brisket, rack of lamb, skewered meats (which I might get the Weber charcoal Performer for) and griddle / Slate for other stuff like burgers, quesadillas, hibachi, breakfast etc. I sold my old stuff before moving (Weber gas grill and a Traeger - I highly disliked the Traeger - everything came out dry, didn't matter what I tried) and currently don’t own anything and am thinking of getting the following setup:
Don’t think I want a gas grill again - if I have one I’ll probably not use the other grills mentioned above and will end up mostly using the gas grill for the convenience of it…just the reality of the situation with 3 young kids.
Thanks for your help!

- 24” or 36” Searwood (based on your answers to the question above)
- 36” Slate griddle (if no 36" griddle insert available for the 36" Searwood)
- 22” Performer Premium Smart (charcoal)
- Ooni dual-fuel Karu 2 Pro (mostly for pizzas)
