Thank God I am not the first to report this!!!!

And I do see it.

I'm trying to update through Android. I get a notification that it is updating, click to watch progress. That opens the app, but no progress meter. I left my phone by the grill for 30 mins and no change. Shut down the grill and restarted and still on old firmware and app still shows the same notification. Gonna let it go 45mins and see what happens.
Tried 3 times and no go.

when I talked to Weber before they said to only do the updates on Bluetooth and turn off Wi-Fi

I think I found the solution. It helps to read the instructions. You have to use shutdown on the grill menu, not just power off\on. When I did this, the update screen popped up in the app. A few mins later it said to power off\on the grill. When it restarted, the app showed update complete and I verified the firmware is now 4054.

After 15 minutes, shut down your grill by navigating to Grill Settings (on the control screen) and enter shutdown mode. Once shut down is complete, the grill will display that it’s safe to turn off your grill. At this time, flip the grill switch off. Once the grill has completely shut down, power SmokeFire back on again for the update to sync to the grill controller.

Use a iPhone, have an ex6 myself for more than a year now. Updating with Android only worked once, Iphone has a better track record....

Updated mine today, cooking a couple of racks of ribs today. Had it on Smokeboost for 90 minutes first, seems much quieter fan wise, good plume of smoke. Just knocked it off to set a temp of 250F (Smokeboost seemed to have set itself at 180F) took just under 10 minutes to get to 250F. Although the App stuck on 200F not the 250F on the Smokefire itself, although notification came through on app that temperature had been reached. Just knocked the app off on the iphone and re-opened it, then showed the250F that the Smokefire showed

On startup seems a little slower to reach temp than before, but fans and noise from the Smokefire appears reduced to me than the previous version.

Will update at end of cook to see how it has performed overall.

The controller really gets confused if you do not use the shut down function each time.

They should update the user experience and make it clear. Turn on grill, open app, see update is required, shutdown grill from app, update will start, turn off grill when prompted, turn back on, let app do it's thing, done. Probably takes less than 25 min over wifi. Didn't turn off wifi.

Just updated my ex6 with an iPhone, went smoothly and was done within 15 min (including uncovering the grill, getting the extension cord etc...)

Downloaded update on mine...flawlessly

Did a Pizza today at 600F today. Was surprised at the ferocity of the flames from underneath all 4 sides of the firepot cover from 225F upwards as it heated up and the amount of Smoke out the vents as it climbed to 600F.

It reached 600F fine, in fact it climbed to 625F and said cooling down till it settled at 600F, definitely seems a new algorithm altogether to me. Fingers crossed as it has worked well on a lo&slo as well as a high temp for me so far, even if going forward that flame is a little scary in its ferocity for getting to higher temps

Just to share, did a long haul over the weekend, everything fully updated. Started @05:45 AM till 12:00 PM. My EX6 is now just over 1 year old and had an issue with the previous firmware, flame out after a few hours. Now it ran 100% without issues. Small note android app crashed and is now unable to connect to the EX took my other phone an iPhone (IOS) and worked perfectly for the remainder.
