My last several cooks, after a few hours in, my Smokefire loses the cooking program and temperature set point. It seems to hold the temp at the last temperature I set it to, but if you try and change the target temp it tells you you must set it first. Has anyone else had this issue and know of a fix? I tried going into recovery mode and then reapplying the latest software, factory defaulting and starting from scratch, but that does not help.

I also have this weird thing where after a few hours into a cook the grill tells me there is a software update. It shows an "Update Failed, restart update" and if you select that, it immediately says it is the latest version, and then reverts to software update failed, and this just continually repeats.

I want to call Weber to see if maybe my controller is bad, but I can't find a phone number anywhere on the site.

Any advice/help would be appreciated.

Greg

I haven't had the first problem, but on my last cook I had the warning about a failed update. I ignored it and kept on cooking. It shut down with no problem and the next day I turned it on to try to update. It told me it was up to date. I haven't tried another cook again.

I have a call in to Weber, they are supposed to call me back. I will let you know what they say.

When I was investigating the weird update issue, there is a newer firmware listed on Weber's support site. Only thing is, the release is on 6/6/2022, so I guess we will get it tomorrow :)

So sorry to hear. I’m still on the lucky side.

I haven’t been able to change the temp in the app, but I have on the panel. I get the temp must be set on the grill first or something similar error when I use the app. Which is confusing because the grill is going with a temp. I think it loses the set point, but held the temp just fine.

Update for the Firmware and Software are out . Version 04088 for Controller and 1.6_5469 for Software. Both updates went smoothly..

I have seen the app loose all output from the grate probe, last cook. Had no remote temp control but still very much exchanging data and configurable for timer, etc.
I was cooking at 325°

Mine just did the software update when I went to fire it up for dinner. Need to check the info to see if firmware was also updated. Worked flawlessly.

I have the first issue. It does lose set temperature and stays at the latest temp like you said. Maybe a software issue?
It has to be. Good news? Go to your App store or Goole play and update Weber Connect, new version out today!

I updated my firmware and software, everything seemed to go ok. However during my cook tonight (just a cheeseburger), the APP kept telling me there was an update available, that the update failed, and to restart the update. After trying several times it says "Up to date" and then immediately shows an update available, update failed, restart update. Ad nauseum. Super frustrating.

I'm still waiting for them to contact me. They told me they would call me within 24-48 hours. It is 48 hours past the 48 hour time frame. To say I am disappointed is an understatement.
