Thinks its been out a few days, but got to update both today. Now with the new firmware update a few weeks ago Version 4088

Did a 50 minute kebab cook today at 375F and sat outside whilst it was cooking the whole time, for me what was noticeable with the firmware update is the fans don't sound like jet engines anymore and have stopped going louder and quieter as if they were constantly adjusting. Today was a steady consistent sound from the fans and no fluctuations temperature remained stable on the controller even when lid opened.

Early days but got high hope for this one, but need to try a few longer cooks to be certain

Can't find what the software has updated, but this one took the full 25 minutes to download and install

WHAT IS NEW WITH THE LATEST FIRMWARE UPDATE (04088)?

The new firmware update was designed to enhance your SmokeFire pellet grill:
  • More temperature stability
There is increased temperature stability in the roasting zone (275-450°)
  • Grill display shows temperature readout when heating to SmokeBoost
You can now see the temperature of your grill while heating to SmokeBoost.
  • Improved fan diagnostics
Optimized fan monitoring - when the grill’s fan rotation increases during cold weather fewer E2 errors will display.

I got an email about it, but haven't checked if I've received it or not.

I haven’t updated since I got mine back in November

Hey! Been a while... I did a whole long weekend of cooking last week using the new firmware and Lumberjack pellets.

My Smokefire was like a grilling/smoking superstar. Wings on Friday night started low and slow at 230 and finished at 425 for a good crisp followed by a couple of pizza's done in a pan at 450. Poor mans pork belly (done with beautiful chunks of chuck) on Saturday followed by a few racks of St. Lewis cut pork ribs on Sunday.

The new firmware smoothed the pit operation out considerably. It held set point tenaciously and the displayed temp was more sensitive to the changes in temp (and responded faster to those changes).

Updating via Bluetooth from my iPhone was flawless. I keep the pit off of wifi and just use Bluetooth from the phone. Updates are always pretty simple and successful. Also, most pit operations are handled at the pit. If I use the Weber app at all it's to just have a look at things. While I'm at the pit, I always check the pellets and run my hand around in them a bit.

Sorry to the folks who continue to have problems... My pit has been trouble free since day 1. I don't put the volume through the Smokefire that many of you do but what little I do has been delicious and high quality. I told many friends at camp last summer that while I liked the pit, I couldn't recommend it. This year I've changed my mind. (y)

As always, build it yourself to spec. READ the FAQ before your first fire. Make some of the changes that are in there to head off many of your problems (Weber will never tell you to remove the finger guard to lessen the chance for bridging). Too many people learn all if this the hard way and too late.

Anyway, glad to catch up. Sorry that I didn't take the time to take more pictures.
