The welded auger tube got me back to 600. When I first got the grill I was able to hit 600 in 28 minutes in 25 degree weather with moderate wind. A couple weeks later I could not get better than 500. Rev F auger and software updates did not fix it. With the new welded auger tube my grill is finally doing what it was supposed to do in the first place.

Here are my numbers:
Outside air temp is 55 degrees no wind. Edit: using Weber Hickory
400 - 13 min
500 - 14 min 30 seconds
550 - 15 min 40 seconds
600 - 16 min 38 seconds

Thanks Weber! Now get me super smoke and a better app and we're in business!

Great news!

Mine only took 14 minutes to get to 600 with welded auger chute. It was 68 out. Put out a lot of smoke too, but I was guessing that grease burning off. Plan to cook pork butts tomorrow.

Tons of smoke on mine too. Like you say maybe burn off. It was blasting like a blowtorch at 600. Now here's here's an experiment for my next steak. Smoke it at 225 until about 120, pull the meat off, put 2 cast iron grates from my Weber Gasser on and crank it up to 600, then sandwich the steaks between the 2 hot grates to see what it does.

Today I set my grill to 225 and took 10 minutes to get there. Was 44 outside.

When I first installed the welded chute I hit 600 in 14 minutes. Haven’t tried since. If I have time after these pork butts finish I’ll set to 600.

I’m able to hit 600 but only after a fresh grill clean up and at first try. If I try to do it from a lower temp (like a reverse sear) or if I cooked with it once after a clean up I can never get past 540. I emailed Weber support today see if they think the new chute/Auger combo will be of any help. I have the latest software and firmware, and rev F auger.

No problems holding any temps on long cooks so that’s good. Most of my cooks have been low and slow, and fantastic results.

I have no problem up till 500, and low and slow works awesome. I can sear well at 500, but sears even better if I wait for 600, if the auger would get me to 600 in less than 20 minutes, compare to the 45ish I'm waiting now, I would like to get one, that's an awful lot of pellets burning to reach temperature of 600.
Having said all that I love my smoke fire, just want it to perform as advertise.

Same. I love this thing because something as simple as beef hotdogs for lunch turns into fun because they taste so much better! Even my 6 and 3 year olds notice and want them on the Smokefire!

Latest Report -
Yesterday I tried a reverse sear steaks. I did not clean out the grill so it took a long time to get to 275, and then to 600 for the sear. Today I did a quick clean out of just the burn pot. There was a coke buildup that needed to be wiped away. After doing that the performance went back up.

Here are my numbers:
Different pellets - using pit boss comp blend for the first time
OAT was 60 today no wind
500 - 17 min
550 - 18 min
600 - 18 min 52 seconds

Did you happen to take pictures of the new welded auger tube? This is going to be my third tube for the grill and I’m wondering what is different from the first replacement they sent a couple months back.

I found a picture on here. Thanks

Yeah I just uploaded those a couple days ago. I'm on my 3rd also. Big differences between the 2. New one is a straighter path, smoother (no fasteners inside) and one piece so there is no seam where compressed pellets can grab and bind slowing down the auger feed rate. The only thing that can prevent you from getting full temperature is a dirty coked up firepot. Keep that clean and good to go. Coking up can screw up a reverse sear though. Even if you clean it to start, by the time you are ready to bump it to the higher temperature it gets dirty and it takes forever to go from say...275 to 600. But clean the pot and go straight to 600 for me is ~18 minutes. I can live with that.
